Mississippi Record Contacts

This is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody or release, free anyone, post bond, or retrieve an official record. Contact the agency that owns the record.

Choose the Record Owner

Mississippi release information follows the authority that held the person. A county sheriff handles local booking and release records. MDOC handles state sentence calculations and nonexempt state records. The Parole Board answers case-specific hearing questions, while an assigned county office addresses supervision. Courts, VINELink, BOP, and ICE each maintain separate systems.

  • For a county-jail release, use the County Directory to reach the sheriff or detention source that held the person.
  • For a state custody or sentence record, contact MDOC Records at P.O. Box 24388, Jackson, MS 39225, 601-933-2889, or MDOCRecordsDepartment@mdoc.state.ms.us.
  • For a nonexempt MDOC public record, write the Public Records Officer, Legal Division, Mississippi Department of Corrections, 301 North Lamar Street, Jackson, MS 39201; fax 601-359-5735; or email legalpublicrecords@mdoc.state.ms.us.
  • For parole hearing questions, contact the Mississippi State Parole Board, 239 North Lamar Street, Suite 501, Jackson, MS 39201, at 601-576-3520.
  • For parole or probation supervision, use the assigned MDOC county office and the sentencing court. The statewide public search covers parolees, not all probationers.
  • For court files, begin with Mississippi Electronic Courts or the clerk that owns the case. For notifications, call Mississippi SAVIN at 1-888-9-MSSAVIN or 601-359-5759.
  • For a federal or immigration custody record, use the BOP inmate locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator and their listed support channels.

The Mississippi released-inmates home page explains what a release record can show and how the county and state request routes differ. The Facility Directory helps identify a specific custody site, while the MDOC offender search page explains the state lookup and formal record path.
